Quick recap.

  • Cross out prepositional phrases; the verb agrees with the true subject, not the nearest noun.
  • each/every/either/neither/anyone/everyone are singular; both/few/many/several are plural.
  • With 'or/nor', the verb agrees with the nearer subject; with 'there is/are', the subject follows the verb.
